Carola Göllner, 'Embracing', Germany, 1984
This captivating work by the German painter Carola Göllner from 1984 shows an embracing seated couple. The couple is situated in an interior determined by vaults and arches which might indicate that they are sitting in a cathedral. The male figure gazes through the arches with a contemplating look and the female who is partly nude clings onto his body. Göllner has chosen a cool colour palette to depict this scene and underline a certain loneliness that these two figures emanate in this vast building structure. The presentation of the figure in the room is a central theme to Göllner’s work.

The painting is in good condition. It is signed and dated lower right with “Göllner 1984”. The dimensions are102 x 71 cm framed and without the frame 100 x 69 cm.
