Carlin,NV - Elko County - c1880 - Street View of the Railroad Town Photograph :
Nice photo of people patronizing Carlin's businesses. Photograph measures 3 1/4”x3 1/4”, gray single mount 4 1/2”x4 1/2”, high contrast, and focus is sharp. Some minor wear on the upper left, but overall good condition. Photographer not identified. The town came to fruition when it became the terminus for the Humboldt division of the Central Pacific Railroad, 1868. As a result, the community survived as a railroad town. With improved mining techniques developed in the 1950s, Carlin now continues to benefit from mining operations.
