<B>Carleton Watkins Original Mammoth Plate Albumen Photograph</B></I> from the wet-collodion negative. Titled "View Down the Valley From The Ferry Bend, Yosemite", circa 1870s. The sight size is approximately 20.75" x 14.75" and it is matted and framed in handsome dark mahogany to 29" x 23". Watkins was one of the first commercial photographers to absolutely fall in love with the beauty of Yosemite and he started photographing it in the early 1860s. His images introduced many easterners to the area for the first time. This is one of Watkins' more popular photographs but is very rarely seen in this large size.
