The only reference we can find of the artist is a Butte Montana Standard Newspaper Article from 1942 where he exhibited with William Standing. Dewitt Carlton Wheeler was born on 21 December 1892, in Rosebud, Rosebud, Montana, United States, his father, Dewitt Clinton Wheeler, was 47 and his mother, Minnie Little-Fish Abbott, was 30. He married Margaret Hill before 1911. They were the parents of at least 3 daughters. He lived in Montana, United States for about 5 years and School District 6 Lame Deer, Rosebud, Montana, United States in 1940. He died on 23 October 1956, in Spokane, Spokane, Washington, United States, at the age of 63, and was buried in Sandpoint, Bonner, Idaho, United States.
