Included in this lot is an original Carl Tolpo, Moraine Lake, Banff National Park oil painting from 1965. Carl Tolpo was born in Ludington, Michigan in 1901. During the course of his career, he established his reputation as a portrait, genre, and landscape painter, as well as a portrait and figure sculptor. As a painter, his works in fine oil portraiture particularly include State portraits and landscape oil paintings of the western USA, mostly the Yellowstone Park region. His works are on display in the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. In this original oil painting, Tolpo illustrates the beautiful Moraine Lake that is located in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. Moraine Lake is set in the rugged Valley of the Ten Peaks and is glacially fed. When the lake is full, it reflects a distinctive shade of azure blue, creating a scene so stunning it almost seems unreal. On the bottom left of the painting, it is titled "Moraine Banff". On the back of the painting, Tolpo signs "Aug 12-65, 9-1130AM C.T. Moraine Lake Banff, Can". This piece measures 12" by 16".
