For your consideration is an original Carl Tolpo oil painting depicting Bird Woman Falls in Glacier National Park circa 1965. Carl Tolpo was born in Ludington, Michigan in 1901. During the course of his career, he established his reputation as a portrait, genre and landscape painter as well as a portrait and figure sculptor. As a painter, his works in fine oil portraiture particularly include State portraits and landscape oil paintings of the western USA, mostly the Yellowstone Park region. His works are on display in the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Bird Woman Falls is a 560 feet waterfall located immediately west of the continental divide in Glacier National Park, Montana, United States. The falls are readily visible from a distance of two miles along the Going-to-the-Sun Road, which bisects the park east to west. The artist Carl Tolpo captures the beauty and Majesty of this 560 foot waterfall in this original oil painting. From the perspective of Going to the Sun Road the painting displays the grandness of the valley that lies between the road and the falls. As well as showcasing the mountain range that funnels the snow melt down that forms this beautiful waterfall. The piece measures approximately 16” x 12” and is dated and signed by the artist in the bottom right corner, circa 1965.
