Important Danish composer (1865–1931) best known for his six grandly scaled symphonies, a number of which bear such evocative subtitles as “The Expansive” (No. 3) and “The Inextinguishable” (No. 4). Uncommon vintage sepia 6.75 x 9 photo, on its original 10.5 x 13 mount, signed and inscribed in black ink to Thorvald Aaguard and dated December 28, 1878. Horizontal crease through facial area, scattered light silvering to darker areas of image, moderate toning to mount, as well as some light damp staining and surface loss, otherwise very good condition.
