German composer, baritone singer and conductor (1796–1869). Unsigned handwritten musical manuscript on both sides of an 8 x 12 off-white sheet. Loewe pens 115 bars of music and lyrics (in German) for the soprano voice from one of his works called “Columbus.” In part (translated): “Good God! protect (the weak, and those who will watch over us).”Changing to Andantino: “We beseech, we beseech, we supplicate to you, For husbands, brothers, sons…” and at the conclusion “Good-bye good-by, adieu, adieu.” In very good condition, with a central horizontal fold, scattered toning and soiling, ink notations to top edge, and a couple small tape remnants on reverse.
