Swedish botanist, physician, and zoologist (1707-1778), who laid the foundations for the modern scheme of binomial nomenclature. LS in Old Swedish, on the upper portion of the first page of a three page (on two adjoining sheets) letter signed “J:h Engelhard,” 8.5 x 12.5, April 4, 1750. Crisply penned untranslated letter to Carl Klingenberg, written as Rector of Uppsala University. Linnaeus mentions the name “Elizabeth Lindblad” and ostensibly indicates that Klingenberg ask Engelhard to write a letter, possibly a recommendation. Engelhard mentions “Lisa Lindblad” three times in his letter and refers to “Hedwig Falk Stockholm.” In very good condition, with scattered toning, show-through from text on reverse, repairs to bisecting horizontal fold, and some scattered light creasing. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
