Title is Chief White Cloud. 13 1/2" tall. Carl Kauba (1865 - 1922) was active/lived in Austria, United States. Carl Kauba is known for Sculpture-western figure, Native American. Austrian sculptor of Western American bronzes specializing in Indians. Kauba was the pupil of Carl Waschmann and Stefan Schwartz in Austria. He traveled widely in the American West, sketching and modeling, about 1895. He returned to Vienna where his Western bronzes were cast for the American market between 1895 and 1912. Small and medium bronzes were sometimes polychromed at the foundry. It is said that there were two Kaubas, father and son, and that the son modeled the small polychromed bronzes.
