Carl Delcomyn Antique 50 cal Percussion Cap Rifle - Made in Denmark

A good Danish Percussion Rifle by Carl Heinrich Delcomyn, mid 19th century with
a 32 1/2 inch long octagonal barrel with front and rear sights.

The back action lock with long tangs both front and back, with set trigger, is highly
engraved in detail - Trigger guard depicts a Deer standing in forest.
Top of barrel is marked in gold .C. Delcomyn i Kiobenhavn.. also has gold lines
around barrel base.
The butt plate, trigger guard tangs, the Patrchbox, Sling Mounts, Lock and hammer
all engraved with fine highly detailed foliage - Plus has the name DELCOMYN
engraved on lock plate.

A steel ramrod held by three pipes, one with sling ring is under the barrel

The high grade walnut stock with checkered grip is free from any cracks and still
retains high gloss finish .. has a few small dents..

Carl Heinrich Delcomyn (born 20 December 1807 in Hellebek died 7 June 1864 in
Odense) was a Danish military gunsmith, brother of Adolf Delcomyn.

He was the son of Carl Heinrick Delcomyn - Lived 1771-1849, who was also a gunsmith,
and who worked both in Helsingor and Odense.

CH Delcomyn also supplied civilian weapons to order for the upper class.
He was one of the best Danish gunsmiths of his time with a significant civilian
production. The quality was particularly good and could be compared to international
standards.
