Carl Barks - Uncle Scrooge McDuck Hands Off My Playthings Bronze Sculpture (Walt Disney, 1997).
Carl Barks - Uncle Scrooge McDuck "Hands Off My Playthings" Bronze Sculpture (Walt Disney, 1997). Uncle Scrooge is upset with his nephew, Donald Duck, and Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, for what he considers to be their lack of respect for money, and the hard work it takes to accumulate and hold onto it. The intricate coins at Uncle Scrooge's feet, issued from the Duckburg mint, were designed by Carl Barks himself. Uncle Scrooge's three cubic acre money bin had a depth gauge, and his coins are shown here resting at a comfortable level of 90 feet. Also at Scrooge's feet is the jade elephant that was often shown in money bin scenes in the comic books. Carl Barks has signed the piece on the back of the money gauge. The edition size of 176 (of which this is number 79) also has a special significance, as one, seven, and six were the three digits that were always found on the jailbird Beagle Boys' prison shirts in some permutation. This sculpture was designed by Carl Barks, sculpted by Bruce Lau, and produced at the Parks Bronze Foundry. The condition is Excellent. The figure measures 16" tall. The sculpture was released in 1997 with a retail price of $1,950, and quickly sold out; pieces have been known to sell for twice that amount on the secondary market.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
