Carl Barks - King Beowulf Lithograph with Double Remarques, numbered 90/300 Original Art Print (Carl Barks, 1979). Carl Barks blessed this lithograph with double remarques, and it is the only known King Beowulf print to have not just one, but two unique drawings. To the left, a witch and a child watch a house as it is engulfed in dragon flames. The witch boasts, "I taught him to bake gingerbread houses." On the right, the second drawing depicts a King and three maidens frolicking in a flame-heated tub. Beneath them is a stone cistern with a dragon's tail poking out of the entrance. A legend reads, "Hot Tub 5,000 BC." Both drawings have been rendered in blue, green, yellow, and flesh hues, using colored pencils. In the main image of the lithograph, Beowulf, King of the Geats, in his final battle, rides bareback on a fire-breathing dragon, high above his fleeing warriors. The overall paper size measures 20" x 24", while the image size is 16" x 20". The lithograph is number 90 in a limited edition of 300, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Carl Barks has signed the print at the lower right, and the art is in Excellent condition. Carl Barks had a knack for portraying whimsical dragons and often featured them in his Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge stories. The "good duck" artist was also a "good dragon" artist and this wonderful lithograph has three unique and charming examples of his immense talent.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
