Carl Barks - Gyro Gearloose Motorized Unicycle Painting Original Art (undated)
Carl Barks - Gyro Gearloose "Motorized Unicycle" Painting Original Art (undated) On Carl Barks' whirlwind tour of Europe during Donald Duck's 60th birthday celebration, the "Good Duck Artist" was chauffeured about in style, in Rolls-Royce and Jaguar limousines. After the trip, Carl painted an example of the much more economical transportation he would have preferred -- namely Gyro Gearloose's motorized unicycle! Gyro and his helper cruise by Uncle Scrooge's three cubic acre money bin and past the towering statue of Duckburg's founder, Cornelius Coot. This watercolor on paper painting is one of only two watercolors, with a transportation theme, that Barks did before he became re-immersed in creating oil paintings for the print market. These watercolors were open to Barks' imagination without limitation and he remarked upon how much he enjoyed working on this quirky character of his own creation (Gyro was Barks' alter-ego in some regards). The two-tone paint job and simple squeeze-horn harken on Gyro's unicycle back to the '50s era -- a time when Carl Barks' Disney titles had a readership of three million! Forget the Segway, this is the ride we need! This lively watercolor measures 9" x 11.5", is signed at the lower right, and is in Excellent condition. Get your motor running with this superb Carl Barks painting!

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
