Carl Anderson - Henry Daily Comic Strip Original
Carl Anderson - Henry Daily Comic Strip Original Art, dated 2-10-37 (King Features Syndicate, 1937). A skillful illustrator, Carl Anderson had a flair for expressive detail, but it was with the minimal style of the expressionless, silent Henry, who appeared in a Saturday Evening Post single-panel feature from 1932 to 1934, that he reached a wide audience. Rehired by Hearst, who had fired him 19 years before, to do Henry as a strip in 1934, Anderson drew it daily and Sunday until illness forced his retirement in 1942. This strip, from 1937, has an image area of 23.5" x 5". The strip has some overall aging apparent, three fold lines (apparently the art was folded when shipped to the publisher), some creasing, and minimal staining, otherwise the art is in Good condition. From the collection of Gill Fox.
