William Auerbach-Levy signed self-portrait with inscription dated 1932. Auerbach-Levy gained fame as a preeminent caricaturist and displays it here, adding a personal note that reads ''Dear Mary MacArthur / Some day this will / serve (if the question ever comes up) / to show you how I looked in / my prime -- such as it was. A.W.''. On blank book page measuring 7'' x 8.25'' with child's toy photo on reverse. Item belonged to Mary MacArthur, daughter of actress Helen Hayes. Smudging to inscription, with yellowing in center of portrait, else very good.
