Carel van Falens (Antwerp 1683 - 1733 Paris) Elegantly dressed Falconers on horseback, oil on canvas, 50 x 54,5 cm, w/ frame, (Wo).€ 12.000 - 15.000 US $ 11.880 - 14.850 Carel van Falens, son of the captain of the Antwerp militia, probably moved to Paris in ca. 1703 and, in 1705/06, joined the painters' guild; 1724 court painter, 1726 member of the Paris Academy. On the occasion of his acceptance into the latter, he submitted two hunting scenes that today are part of the Louvre collection. He was a successor of Philips Wouwerman, to whom Falens' paintings are frequently attributed.
