Blame the paper shortage in 1944 for this issue's relative rarity in nice grade, although this pedigreed copy looks just fine, thank you! Wendell Crowley, who was Fawcett Publications' general editor from 1944 to 1950, in addition to keeping every single Fawcett comic published during that period, bought virtually every comic published so he could keep up with the competition. This massive and impressive pedigree came onto the market in 2000 and, like this example, most all copies exhibit outstanding cover reflectivity and page quality. Moreover, this stunning specimen has razor-sharp edges and corners, a near flawless spine, and is the highest CGC-graded copy to date. Overstreet 2003 NM 9.4 value = $1,950. <B>Estimate: $3,500-up</B> </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><!--<a name="PricesRealized"></a> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000000"> <tr> <td width="100%"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="3"> <tr> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#79735C"> <a name="PR"> <font face="arial" size="3" color="#FFFFFF"> <b>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#F6F6ED"> No Prior Data Recorded </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <font face="arial" size="1""> PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium.
