Lardeau Mining District. Incorporated under the laws of the Companies Act of 1897 of the Province of British Columbia. Certificate No. 2962 issued to J.R. Richards for 175 shares on April 9, 1902. Signed by A.J. Scott as President and M.R. Goldsworthy as Secretary. Vignette of elk in upper left with black border, black print, brown safety print and gold seal embossed at bottom left. Uncancelled. S.D. Childs & Co., Printers, Chicago. The Syndicate, from Hancock MI, operated the Camborne Group, located on the west side of the Fish River, about two miles above Camborne. An aerial tramline was built from the mine to the 10 stamp mill, operated from water power in the valley. Financial difficulties arose in 1903, and the mine was closed. A meeting was held in Hancock on December 26, 1903 to consider a proposal for re-organization. During its operation the mill produced 800 tons of ore, from which was extracted about $8,000 worth of bullion, or $10 per ton. (Ref: Annual Report…British Columbia, 1904, p. 128)
