On sale is an extremely rare "Canaanite Baal Bat" circa 1,000B.C. to 800 B.C. This exquisite and unique item is from our private collection and its original provenance is from Syria. Featured is a stone carved "Bat" in flight from a fragment of an offertory vessel or incensarium. Sculpted on this handle is the frontal portion of an arched bat. The bat is associated with the wings of the Canaanite god Baal. Identified as one of the fallen angels of God, in some texts associated with Molech and with the god Iadalbaoth. Elaborately detailed in every respect, it has the required look of malevolence attributed to this piece. This very rare ceremonial fragment piece is in superb condition.
