Important ALS in French, signed "C. Pissarro," three pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.25 x 8.25, Grand Hotel Terminus letterhead, May 22, 1891. Handwritten letter to his wife, Julie Vellay, regarding works by their artist-sons Lucien and Georges. In part (translated): "I also went to Monsieur Gallimard with the prints made by Lucien. This gentleman has found the works of Lucien particularly beautiful and asked me to ask my son at what price he could furnish wood cuts in color so that he could judge the possibility of a publication. He said that he would do everything possible to find something for Lucien. I have left him the collection so that he could show it to other three collectors of rare books. Tell Georges that this gentleman would like to see these color wood cuts to put them on the cover of books. Georges could find an ornamental subject or another of the size of a volume as a trial. And I told so Mr. Gallimard. I wait for an answer of Lucien and I would be very happy if I could get this good deal for him and especially because in this group of collectors this might have a great influence and be very favorable for his future prospects." In fine condition, with light intersecting folds. A superb artistic letter by one of the great Impressionist painters.
