Rare; we've never sold this. Certificate number 1, issued for 180 shares to John R. Boyden in 1867. Signed by president Stephen Maron and the treasurer. Not cancelled. Light purple border and print with E. Plurbus Unum vignette. 25 cent revenue stamp at left. Folds, stains. 6 x 9.5" Our consignor believes this certificate is for the Comanche Mine at Benton, Mono County, California. We cannot confirm this. We did find 1874 mentions in newspaper articles that the property of the "Camanche Silver Mining Company" at Flint Creek Mining District, Deer Lodge County, was being sold at sheriff's sale. No earlier mentions were found on newspapers.com
