TLS, one page, 7 x 9, Vice President’s Chamber letterhead, May 7, 1921. Letter to General Hugh Bancroft. In full: “Thank you very much for sending me the proof of Mr. Barron’s article. It is extremely interesting and I am very glad to have had an opportunity to see it. I hope that the new publication will have every success.” Intersecting folds, light toning to edges, and some light creases and wrinkles, otherwise fine condition.

Clarance Barron was the President and owner of Dow Jones, The Wall Street Journal, and founder of Barron’s magazine. Some consider him the founder of modern financial journalism. His credo was: ‘The Wall Street Journal must stand for what is best in Wall Street.’ Hugh Bancroft was his son-in-law, and eventually became President of Dow Jones. Upon Barron's death the Bancroft family became majority shareholders in Dow Jones, until 2007 when it was sold to Rupert Murdoch.
