Before his years in the White House, Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933) served as Governor of Massachusetts from January 2, 1919 to January 6, 1921. In this ALS written at the Massachusetts State House in Boston, Coolidge writes in full: <I>“My dear Monsignor O’Connell: May you have a Thanksgiving for yourself and all who are dear to you as pleasant as the evening you made for my wife and myself, and may the days of your parents be lengthened to see the increase in position and influence that will come to you for doing good. Sincerely, Calvin Coolidge”</B></I> The letter is in fine condition, with two hole punches at the top and one center fold. <I>From the collection of Henry E.
