The Tughra was the calligraphic cipher of the Ottoman sultans and served as the signature or seal of the respective Sultan. Today, it enjoys great popularity as a decorative element. Here it is painted in white on a green background with a decorative flower bouquet and gold spotted edge.
The calligraphy is in good condition, showing light framing marks and craquelure on the paint surface. The gilt stucco frame shows dryness cracks and some material losses. The overall dimensions, framed, 65.5 x 76.5 cm. The hardboard measures 58.5 x 46 cm.
