Width 9 1/16 in.

This important tall blade-shaped pectoral has repoussé human faces at top and bottom. The upper silhouette flares outward in two elements which end in knobs. The upper face is delimited by diagonal lines at the temples and a broad raised chin line. The lower reverses the procedure with an arced brow line and slightly curved diagonals at the cheek areas. Each face is comprised of an interlocked eyebrow-nose unit, oval eyes, ears shaped like question marks, and an oval mouth with bared teeth. Two punches at top center were for attachment. The back of the pectoral shares with one published example (Colin McEwan. Precolumbian Gold Technology, Style and Iconography. Chigago: Fitzroy Dearborn Publishers, 2000, p.102, fig. 5.12) the dark impression of multiple strands of small beads. The pectoral may have been folded near the bottom, and there are several small crack patterns.

Provenance
Dylan Graeme Collection
Wally and Brenda Zollman Collection, Indianapolis
Butterfields & Butterfields, San Francisco: sale 7307E, 25 March 2002, lot 5084 (QEL00.E.52), p.26, ill. p.26
