Black, floral carved and floral engraved, sterling silver mounted California Parade Saddle. With added inset Edward H. Bohlin seat plate, engraved with the name of the Rancho Santa Fe saddle collector, George Pitman. Saddle features silver rope-edged Cheyenne roll with fully silvered front and flat pelican style horn. The skirts and fenders are perimeter trimmed with diamond and half-diamond engraved conchos. Includes latigo strings adorned with silver spots and matching tapaderos. Pitman’s raised gold initials “GEP” appear on the top of the Cheyenne roll. Saddle style and engraving appear reminiscent of similar product from San Francisco’s popular Keyston Bros. Fine overall condition, circa late 1940s to early 1950s.

IMPORTANT UPDATE
The catalog description for this saddle mistakenly uses the term "late" to describe noted California collector George Pittman, he is alive and well.
As far as history on this saddle, we did not and do not make claims that this piece ever belonged to Mr. Pittman, and as we have been notified, it did not. We do not know the origin of the nameplate, this is the way we received it from the consignor, an estate of a well know Nevada collector.
