<B>Cabinet Card - Studio portrait of Ar-ko, Comanche, and captain of the tribal police</B></I><BR>Circa 1889 - 1891<BR>Length 6 1/2 in. Width 4 1/4 in.<BR><BR>Ar-ko is wearing traditional hide leggings and moccasins and a beaded strap is worn across his chest. The small circular beaded pouch worn as a necklace served as a container for a peyote button, indicating membership in the Native American Church. He is also wearing fancy German silver earrings and holding an eagle feather fan. Photograph by William Lenny between 1889 and 1891. The cabinet card bears the studio imprint "Sawyers and Connolley, Purcell, Ind. Ter." The reverse side is blank. Excellent condition and tone.<BR><BR>
