The lot features a circa 1940-1950's beaded Indian hide scout jacket from the Northern Cree. The jacket is comprised of Rocky Mountain Elk Indian tanned hide in a classic Scout Jacket pattern. The jacket has a fancy cut zig-zag collar with unique zig-zag cut hide panels down the center with whimsical geometric and floral beadwork that continues on the top of the pockets and across the shoulders on the back. There is also beadwork on the cuffs. The jacket is sewn with thread and shows a range of old glass trade seed beads with some light blue, red white hearts, greasy greens, chalk white, medium blue, and greasy yellow along with some pink accented white black and blue of a later make. The chest, back and arms have wonderful hide fringe work. The jacket is well kept and has a nice coloring. Overall well kept with little signs of use. Measures overall 27.5-inches long from back of neck to bottom of coat, 58-inches wide from cuff to cuff, 19-inches wide from shoulder seam to shoulder seam.
