The lot features a circa 1930-1940’s Sioux beaded bracelet with original Sioux Rosebud Indian Products Arts & Crafts Shop and is from the Duhamel Trading Post in Rapid City, South Dakota. The Sioux Indian Arts and Crafts Shop and later the Museum was established in the 1930’s. The Duhamel Trading Post was established in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1907 by Pete Duhamel, born in 1839 in Canada and moved to Rapid City, Dakota Territory in 1879. A digital photograph is shown in the description of the inside of Duhamel Trading Post with the walls lined with Indian wares such as Indian blankets, rugs, sculpture, beadwork, leather goods and more. The piece has the original tag which is marked, “Sioux Indian Products Hand Made Native Crafts – Pottery – Weaving / Reservation Rosebud Object Bracelet Price $1.00 Sioux Indian Arts & Crafts Shop Rapid City, South Dakota”. The piece shows an Indian tanned hide bracelet trade thread sewn with glass trade seed beadwork in a classic Sioux geometric pattern. From the Duhamel Trading Post and Rosebud Indian Reservation from the Sioux circa 1930-1940’s and the Sioux Indian Arts & Crafts Shop Rapid City. Beaded fringes. The bracelet is about 7” outside circumference. Tag measures 3.25” by 1.5”.
