Circa 1927 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Signed Baseball. Despite a partnership that served as the foundation of four World Championship teams, this Hall of Fame duo labored through many of those glory years with a shared animosity. "They didn't get along," fellow Cooperstown enshrinee Tony Lazzeri once explained. "Lou thought Ruth was a big mouth, and Ruth thought Gehrig was cheap. They were both right." The burial of that hatchet was heartbreakingly documented with the famous photograph of Ruth wrapping his arms around the faltering Iron Horse at his 1939 "Luckiest Man" farewell, allowing the collecting community to enjoy this special sphere even more. The "Goldsmith Official League" ball provides a strong 7/10 sweet spot autograph from the Babe, complete with quotation marks to date the signature to the pre-1928 era. Gehrig appears to the west at an entirely legible strength of 4/10. Some evidence of signature removal upon other panels must be admitted, though this work does not infringe upon this celebrated pair. An appealing keepsake from the greatest seasons of Yankeedom. LOA from PSA/DNA.
