The lot features a circa 1920-1930’s Navajo Gallup throw sampler weaving. The piece shows a unique motif at the center and faded natural and aniline dyes. Gallup throws became popular in the early 1900 as Navajo weavers located near railroad stops and tourist centers would make these small samplers for the tourist trade. The Gallup is easily identified by their small size and the cotton fringed warp found only on one side. There is some loss to the weave with some warp exposed and faded colors. A / B sides. Measures 19.5-inches by 19.5-inches.
