Ca. 1900- Northern Plains Beaded Hide Tobacco Bag
The lot features a circa 1900-1950's Northern Plains beaded hide tobacco bag from a Utah collection. The bag shows Indian tanned hide with glass trade seed bead beadwork that is trade thread sewn on both sides of the bag. The geometric design is done in colors of chalk white, greasy blue, amber, lilac, semi-transparent red, medium green, light green and a few semi-transparent green. The bag has a pipe bag pattern, thought to be a tobbaco bag / tobacco pouch. The top shows several cuts in the hide which at one point would have held a draw string / belt tie that is long missing. The bottom shows Indian hide fringes. The top has a tag marked, "OLD / 350.00". The bag has some nice coloring and is well kept with soft hides and little bead loss. Measures overall 9"L by 3.5"W.
