The lot features an excellent Buffalo bone hide scraper from the Northern Plains dating to circa 1860’s. The piece is constructed from a large Great American Bison / Buffalo bone and shows fantastic original dark to yellow patina from honest age and use in the traditional angled pattern. The piece shows various marks across it and a pierced hole at the bottom which would have held an Indian hide wrist throng. The end would have held a scraper or adze which were commonly made from stone, such as a scarper that was knapped, forged from a gun barrel or bone. This is a wonderful example with rich original patina and nice large size. Measures overall 13-inches long by 3.75-inches wide by 2-inches deep.
