This colorful Czech Art Deco pottery "Rooster" pitcher was imported to the U.S.A. by Ebeling & Ruess Company in 1930's. The mark most commonly found on this piece is "Erphila", which is the acronym for the above Importer. Although quite scarce, this pitcher is even rarer, because it has the mark of the manufacturer - DITMAR URBACH. This piece survived its 70 years of existence in excellent condition - no chips, cracks or repairs. On the orange base rim there is a spot (1/8"), which was left unpainted at the factory. I checked with magnifying glass and see that the unpainted spot was glazed over. The base is marked : Ditmar Urbach, Czechoslovakia, T (which stands for Teplitz factory). Dimension : 7-1/4" high, Czechoslovakia circa 1930's. This pitcher is listed and pictured in the "Bible" on Czech pottery - "Czechoslovakian Pottery" by Bowers, Closser & Ellis, and valued at $300. Please see pages 92 and 217, item #561. The usual coloring of this piece is red black on cream/yellow base, this less common version is on white base. Please note that in some cases photo sizes are automaticaly reduced, so if you want to see full size or detailed pictures, please email us
