Connecticut Signer of the Declaration of Independence Roger Sherman's Personal Coin Silver Engraved Buttons
(ROGER SHERMAN) (1721 - 1793). A Founding Father who served as the First Mayor of New Haven, Connecticut, and served on the “Committee of Five” that Drafted the Declaration of Independence, and was also a Representative and Senator for Connecticut. He was the Only Person to Sign All Four great U.S. Documents including: the Continental Association, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution.
Lot of Two Buttons, Roger Sherman's Coin Silver Worn Buttons: Ex. John K. Lattimer Collection, featuring two 18th-Century Silver Buttons, Choice Very Fine or better. These being identified to, and to having been worn by Roger Sherman, the historic Connecticut Signer of the Declaration of Independence. Both of the Coin Silver Buttons are Hand-engraved with the initials “R - S” on each side of the smooth face side. The buttons measure about 1.125” in diameter, are shaped slightly convex, with their original Silver Shank properly in place. These buttons are currently nicely housed for display in a modern oak shadowbox with a 4-line decorative information brass plaque and red cloth within.

Includes documentation of provenance with John K. Lattimer's notations. This lot is also accompanied by a modern Commemorative Bronze Medallion of Roger Sherman, his portrait in relief on one side, and details about Sherman's accomplishments on reverse, measuring 1.25” in diameter.
