As per The Official Records of the War of the Rebellion, Series I, Volume XLIV, report number 90 of Colonel William Hawley, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry, states that on or around November 22, 1864, Hawley's troops threw 170 boxes of fixed artillery ammunition into the Oconee River at Milledgeville (the wartime capital of Georgia) and also destroyed the weapons that the Confederates has stored in Milledgeville. Having a thick copper Selma sabot and a rounded nose. Manufactured at the Selma Arsenal in Alabama. CONDITION: Light ground action. 4-55888 JM151 (650-1,200)
