CS 3.3" READ BOLT. Excavated. Unfired. As per The Official Records of the War of the Rebellion, Series I, Volume XLIV, report number 90 of Colonel William Hawley, 3rd Wisconsin Infantry, states that on or around November 22, 1864, Hawley's troops threw 170 boxes of fixed artillery ammunition into the Oconee River at Milledgeville (the wartime capital of Georgia) and also destroyed the weapons that the Confederates has stored in Milledgeville. Having a high, thin copper sabot. Sabot was not cleaned and some of the orig river sand adheres for posterity. One of the better-excavated examples known to exist. Having almost no pitting.
