CRUSADER: Bohemond IV to Bohemond VII (1187-1287), gold bezant (3.61g), Tripoli (in Lebanon) mint, 1200s CE. Pseudo-Arabic text all around with the addition of the two letters B and T in the upper field of the obverse and reverse. A-720A. Pleasing, extremely fine. Rare.
This denomination was minted under the Crusaders of the Country of Tripoli. They were struck in imitation of Fatimid dinars of Al-Mustansir. The coin carries pseudo-Arabic text all around except for the two added letters B and T. The B likely stands for Bohemond while the T likely stands for Tripolis (Tripoli).
