<b>1386. DR. HAWLEY H. CRIPPEN</b> (1862 - 1910) English physician who murdered and dismembered his wife, burying her remains in his cellar. Crippen then fled by ship with his mistress until his capture by a Scotland Yard detective provoked what was then called the "crime of the century". Rare T.L.S. on his quack "<i>Aural Remedies Co</i>" letterhead, 1p. 4to., written from Pentonville Prison in London, Feb. 24, 1910. Crippen here touts his "<i>Treatment for Deafness, Headnoises, catarrh of the Nose and Throat and Ear Diseases</i>", and includes a detailed questionnaire for the sufferer. Weak folds. signature slightly faded yet still prominent, overall good to very good.<b> $300-400</b>
