COURTONNE, Jean.- Traité de la perspective pratique, avec des remarques sur l'architecture, suivies de quelques édifices considérables mis en perspective, & de l'invention de l'auteur [...]. Paris, Jacques Vincent, 1725. Gr. in-f° : frontisp.-[16]-116-[2] pp. et 33 planches : 19 dépliantes avec figures géométriques et 14 planches non numérotées d'édifices et plans, la plupart sur double page, illustrant la "Digression [...]". Rel. de travail de l'époque : demi-basane rose, plats de papier marbré (dos frotté et coupes émoussées mais absolument non rogné).
Edition originale et unique de cet excellent traité d'architecture. Jean Courtonne (1671-1739), "architecte du Roi", réalisa quelques-uns des plus beaux édifices de Paris dont l'hôtel de Matignon, rue de Varennes, et l'hôtel du duc de Noirmoutiers, rue de Grenelle, tous deux figurés, avec plans, dans l'ouvrage ainsi qu'une pyramide réalisée par Courtonne. L'ouvrage est divisé en 3 parties traitant de perspective, suivies d'une "Digression sur quelques difficultez qui regardent l'architecture par rapport à l'optique ou perspective" (pp. 89-116). Contrairement à d'autres, les planches de notre ex. ne sont pas numérotées dans la "Digression", ce qui indiquerait une antériorité de tirage. L'ouvrage fut réédité en 1728 et 1764.

After full payment, buyers are kindly requested to take away their purchases immediately after the auction or at the bookshop the next Tuesday after the auction 230 av. Louise, from 2 pm until 6 pm.

Payment will be made in Euro's. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 200 EUR or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Euro's (EUR)
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 1250 EUR
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
