CORTIS and "H. BLANVALET" Double Signed and Engraved Fabrique Nationale Superposed Shotgun

This example was manufactured in 1975. The left side of the receiver is engraved with a game scene showing a grouse displaying on a rock with three other grouse laying in the grass. The right side of the receiver is engraved with a game scene of four pheasants in a grassy field. The bottom of the receiver is engraved with three quail in a field scene. There is tight floral scroll engraving surrounding the game scenes as well as on the break lever, tangs, trigger guard and forearm hardware. The left side of the receiver is signed "CORTIS" underneath the rock in the game scene and is also signed "H.BLANVALET" to the right of the trigger. The barrel is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE HERSTAL BELGIQUE" on the left side. The barrels have a Broadway vent rib with two white bead sights, are choked modified/light full and have 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors. Mounted on a beautifully figured, multi-point checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with Decelerator recoil pad. Length of pull is 14 3/8 inches. With a leather covered takedown hardcase.

Excellent, 97% of the original blue finish remains with some forearm and muzzle wear along with a few scattered minor scratches. 95% plus of the original French gray finish remains with some scattered scratches and wear. Traces of a protective lacquer coating remain on the lower tang. Has a custom trigger. The refinished wood is very good with some scattered light scratches and dings along with an added recoil pad. Mechanically excellent. The case is good.
