As a teacher she had summers off, and the adjoining states of New Mexico and Colorado provided a respite from the Texas heat, as well as colorful and interesting subjects for painting and sketching. Spellman eventually purchased a summer house in Las Vegas, New Mexico, and spent her summers there, as well as in Taos and in Colorado.<BR><BR>Coreen Spellman was one of the most prolific and important practitioners of the lithography medium in Texas. Carl Zigrosser, the authority on American printmaking, said of Spellman, "Her lithography, etchings, and mezzotints, are distinguished by technical competence, good draughtsmanship, and sound designs."<BR><BR>Provenance:<BR>Collection of James and Kimel Baker<BR><BR> <B>Condition Report:</B> Excellent condition.
