In part: ""àCaptain George Williamson desired that his saddle should be given to me in the case of his deathà[we served] on the same staff - fI understand that the saddle was taken to your house by the direction of General Stuart until I should return from Fort Delaware. I am on my way to Staunton this morning and shall return the day after tomorrowàI shall be much obliged to you therefore if you will send the saddle to the cars at Charlottesvilleà"". Written shortly after being paroled. After the war, Howard authored a book giving his eye-witness accounts of campaigning with ""Stonewall"" Jackson, Johnston, and Lee.
