(CONFEDERATE PRISON GUARD QUARTERLY RETURN)
A very rare war-date partly-printed D.S. 3pp., oblong folio, Atlanta, Ga., April 20, 1864, the muster roll of the prison guard at Atlanta's military prison showing 66 men reporting for duty and listing their regiments along with various articles of clothing they have drawn from the government. Included is the partly-printed abstract voucher 1p. small 4to., Atlanta, Ga., Apr. 20, 1864. enumerating the articles provided by the men and signed by "William Paine" as the captain of the guard. A seldom-seen group of documents from a Confederate prison that was most likely Andersonville since no eveidence can be found of a military prison in Atlanta and Andersonville is located closest to that city, worthy of further research. Evenly toned, minor tears not affecting text, very good.
