CONFEDERATE “CS” SWORD BELT.
This exact belt is pictured & described on pages 226-227 & 238 in Norm Flayderman’s text “The Bowie Knife”. Wreath belt loop is 49mm, tongue belt loop 50mm, wreath 50mm. There is Roman numeral “VI” cast in the back of tongue which is seen on other two-piece CS buckles. The maker is unknown & they are excavated in both the Eastern & Western theaters of war. CONDITION: good overall, buckle has light mustard patina, patent leather belt has been restored by sewing a thin backing to back of belt & hangers to support breaks. Original Confederate crosshatch cast design brass sword hooks w/ iron springs are fine. Crescent shaped leather support for one hanger is detached & held to belt w/ wire. All in all, a complete & displayable Confederate sword belt. (02-14942/JS). $4,000-6,000.
