COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER WITH TEXAS HISTORY
COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER WITH TEXAS HISTORY. Cal. 45 Colt. Blue and case colored with 7-1/2” bbl and rampant Colt hard rubber grips. It is accompanied by a Colt factory letter identifying this revolver as being shipped April 26, 1898 to “H. Morbe & Miedchadk”, address not indicated, in a one-gun shipment. It is also accompanied by a notarized letter from “Mary Ann Vivion” of Victoria, Texas, stating that this revolver had been owned by her husband, Wesley Tilden Vivian, who was the foreman of the Welder Cattle Company in Victoria, Texas, and that it had been given to him by a local rancher named Frank Wood. Also accompanies is a bit of research from the Victoria library which shows that Frank Wood was born in 1897 and died in 1968, was the son of a pioneer Victoria County rancher William A. Wood. The elder Mr. Wood was born in 1861 and died in 1900 so it is likely that William Wood was the original owner of this Texas single action. SN 178310. CONDITION: Good, plus. Traces of original finish remain in the sheltered areas, being mostly a blue/brown patina with some scattered silvered case hardening on the frame. Grips show heavy wear with a chip or two on the right edge, otherwise they are sound. Strong bore with moderate pitting, good mechanics. 4-49154 JR259
