COLT OPEN TOP SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal .44RF Henry. Immediate predecessor of the single action Army, 7-1/2” round bbl, with attached ejector rod and housing. Standard bbl marking with two line patent dates on the left side of the frame. It is nickel plated with 1-pc Army sized walnut grips. Accompanied by an original English oak casing with green felt lining, compartmented for the revolver, an L-shaped screwdriver, small metal oil bottle, a wire loop wiping rod and a small covered compartment. It has an oak cartridge block for 55 cartridges and contains seven rounds of Henry ammo. The inside of the lid has a manufacturers label for the J.H. Crane Co, of London. This revolver is not Britished proofed. SN 2690. CONDITION: Very fine, all matching frames, including loading gate. The wedge is unnumbered, the grips which are unnumbered and the cylinder pin which bears the number 1791. The entire revolver retains most of an outstanding renickel finish. Cylinder is bright and clean and retains 97-99% strong naval battle scene. Strong bore with light to moderate pitting. Good mechanics. Case is extremely fine and retains most of an old refinish missing a sliver from the bottom front edge. The lid is slightly warped. The interior is lightly faded but clean and crisp. It appears that this revolver was near new when it was refinished. 4-49845 JR478
