Cal. 45 ACP. S# 205484. Bbl. 5 1/2" with blade sight and "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on bottom; 1905 last patent date. Mfg. 1917-1919 as US Military service revolver using New Service frame. US Military butt markings and number are removed by shortening butt, but New Service number is on crane and yoke; these numbers were usually about 150,000 higher than butt markings yielding a prior butt number of about 55000 which matches the period of its JMG inspector mark. Finish appears from bead blasting and subsequent bluing giving a matte appearance; includes hammer and trigger. Varnished service grips are both pencil numbered "256332" on backs and proud at butt due to frame shortening. CONDITION: very slight cleaned oxidation on sides of frame under grips. Slight function wear to include cylinder turn line. Occasional faint rub marks on its satin finish. Good to very good grips with faint marks in butt area. Good to very good bore with hint of frosting in grooves. (25-3673/NW). CURIO. $450-600.
