COLT MODEL 1851 NAVY NAVY CONVERSION REVOLVER. Cal .38CF. Usual configuration with 7-1/2” oct bbl, one line New York City address with dash motif. The left side of the frame has both “COLT’S PATENT” and two line patent dates. It has iron trigger guard and backstrap and the bottom of the butt is marked “U.S.N./J.L.H.”. The bottom of bbl is marked “R.W.M.” and has a small anchor. No cartouche is evident on the grips. SN 59315. CONDITION: Fine, all matching except the wedge which is unnumbered. The cylinder has the matching number properly on the back and the serial number is penciled in the backstrap channel on the grip. The assembly number 1282 appears on the loading gate and cylinder pin. Bbl and ejector housing retain 25-30% original blue stronger in the sheltered areas with gray brown patina elsewhere. The frame retains 25-30% faded case colors with the balance silver brown. The trigger guard and backstrap are a blue brown patina. The cylinder retains thin original blue mixed with brown patina and about 75-80% naval battle scene. The grips are sound with chipped toes showing moderate to heavy wear with about 50% old finish. Good mechanics and brilliant shiny bore. 4-49836 JR502
